Step into spring with a five mile walk around Pakenham in Suffolk.
Pakenham is a small quaint village just outside of Bury St Edmunds. It is lucky to have both a watermill and windmill, conservation areas, rolling countryside and The Pakenham Fox pub.
Meet our Sports Team at Pakenham Church at 9.45am wearing suitable footwear and clothing.

Mixed Media uses different materials to create a stunning piece of art!
Decorate a box canvas using stencils and structure paste, powders and water, gilding waxes and stamping. It may be messy, but it will take you outside of your creative comfort zone.
All materials provided. Please bring an apron.

All you need to do is bring along yourself, and if you’re crafting then your work in progress.

Resolution Conference

Horringer Community Centre
Our annual Resolution Conference will help your WI make an informed decision on the NFWI resolution Dental Health Matters, with expert speakers on hand to answer your questions.
For just a one off payment of £8 your WI can send as many members as they wish to the Resolution Conference.
So, bring a car load, and hear from guest speakers including Mark Jones, founder and campaign coordinator for Toothless in England and Paul Rolfe from the British Dental Association. Our Public Affairs team will also be on hand to guide your WI through the resolution process.
Ask your Secretary to book your WI’s place via the WI Office, and notify finance@swfwi.org.uk if you’re attending.

For one afternoon only, Porter’s Lodge Gardens and Tea room is exclusively open to Suffolk West WI Members!
Why not get a group together and drive over to Porter’s Lodge to visit their beautiful gardens followed by tea and cake.
Established for 37 years and winners of Britain’s Best Back Garden 2004, there are plants to suit every taste as well as the Palm House and a water powered organ!
Most of the garden is suitable for wheelchairs but currently there is no disabled toilet facilities.
Tickets include entry, tea/coffee and cake. There is free car parking on site.
Transport is not provided. Please include dietary requirements when you book.

NFWI Annual Meeting

Royal Albert Hall | London
The 2024 NFWI Annual Meeting will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and because Suffolk is only a stones throw away we’ll be making a day trip to the WI event of the year!
We will be travelling with St Edmunds Travel, picking up from Bury St Edmunds bus station 6AM and Sudbury bus station 6.30AM.

Paddleboarding

Back by popular demand!
This is your chance to take part in a one-hour Paddleboarding session on the River Stour with The Paddle Board Company.
The session includes the hire of paddleboards and buoyancy aids, and an instructor who will accompany us along the River Stour.
You can kneel or stand. We recommend wearing lightweight sportswear or a swimming costume in case you get wet.

Barnsdale Gardens

Barnsdale Gardens was created by Geoff Hamilton for BBC Gardeners’ World. It is an inspirational place to visit, and is Britain’s largest collection of individually designed gardens.
It also has a plant nursery and tea rooms onsite.

Europe’s largest Christmas show returns to Norfolk for 2024!
Pick up 10AM at Bury St Edmunds Bus Station.
Showtime 2PM.
Our seats are raised and located in the three central seating areas. There are a small number of steps to the seats. If you book as a group you may not be sat in the same row.
Before the show there will be time for shopping and lunch. We will leave approx. 5.30PM after the show finishes.
Secure your ticket with a £50 deposit. Balance due 1 July 2024.
